Travel blogging / writing
I've been a full time professional travel blogger and freelance writer for two years, making a steady income from my website, combined with brand communications work for travel companies and tourism boards. Let me tell you how I do it.
I'm an independent traveller, visiting the well known and getting off the beaten track. I travel with the aim to change peoples' perceptions of hard to reach places; prove that some countries are really not off-limits, and show you how to make the most of well-established routes and destinations.
I've been travelling for seven years, but have been full-time on the road for two. It's second nature to me to move continuously. I can help you plan your route, map out connecting destinations and teach you how to cut costs along the way.
I'm an adventure addict, having hiked to Everest Base Camp, summited Borneo's Mount Kinabalu, travelled to the far South of Burma, traversed the vast plains of Mongolia and trekked the jungles of Cambodia. I can give you hints and tips on the best adventure spots, safety advice and how to plan an adventurous trip.
I've backpacked and I've travelled stylishly on a budget. I've stayed in dorms, and landed great deals in hotels; have taken day long buses and sourced cheap flight deals. Ask me about money saving tips while on the road.
I spent a total of six months travelling through North Korea, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, China and Mongolia.
I lived and worked in Cambodia for four months, for an NGO based in Siem Reap. I've travelled throughout the country, have a database of contacts, and am knowledgable about planning volunteer work there.
My expertise in the Middle East lies in Israel and Palestine/The West Bank, where I can talk to you about planning travel within this misunderstood region.
I lived in Southeast Asia for over a year, citing expertise in Cambodia, where I lived and Myanmar/Burma, where I have travelled extensively.
I'm currently travelling independently around the Middle East, having spent nearly three months in Turkey, knowing Israel and Palestine well, and embarking on a long-term stint through Oman, Jordan, the UAE, Iran and Iraqi Kurdistan.
