Shannon O'Donnell

Travel Writer, Volunteer, and Online Consultant
Long-term solo female, I travel with a focus on grassroots initiatives and local-level travel within communities around the world.

Expertise

Solo travel

I took off solo in 2008 to travel around the world and haven't stopped yet. Though I had initial fears about what it was like to travel as a solo female, I learned to take travel a pace that works for me. The entire process of traveling slowly and solo around the world creates an empowering perspective shift and I can offer tips and ideas for navigating this part of travel with grace and ease.

Volunteering

My work in the field has been recognized by National Geographic Traveler; I can help you navigate the ethics of volunteering on the road and find a good-fit independent volunteer project.

Long-term travel

On the road traveling solo since 2008; my travels focus on slow travel, independent volunteering, and connecting with local communities as you explore the world.
