Born and raised in Singapore, I grew up speaking both English and Chinese Mandarin. Because of my parents' heritage, I also heard speckles of Cantonese and Hokkien dialects while growing up. My interest in languages got me hooked on French in university and also Arabic later on in life. After meeting my husband who's from Spain, I took up Spanish and can now speak it fluently.
While living in Madrid and Granada, I taught English for a total of three years. I had a varied group of students, ranging from private tuition classes for an 8-year-old kid to professionals with an advanced level of English skills.
I did my first bungee jump at the age of 14. Since then, I've been seeking out adventure activities as a way of experiencing a country and also challenging myself. I've tried skydiving, paragliding, ice-climbing, gorge swings, zorbing, long-distance kayaking, trekking and many more.
Since leaving home in 2005, I've been on several extended journeys, including a 6-month trip in South and Central America, a 3-month volunteering stint in Tanzania and another 3-month backpacking trip in Southeast Asia. I started blogging and writing for magazines/newspapers in 2008 and from then I'm constantly on the road, going from Antarctica to Zimbabwe and South Africa to Argentina.
Originally from Singapore, I am currently a permanent resident in Spain and have gone through the hurdles of applying for visas and residency. It's a long and complicated process but you'll need someone like me to guide you.
Having spent a few months volunteering/living in Tanzania, I know it rather well especially in terms of local culture and customs.
When not traveling, I'm based in Granada, Spain where I've been living on and off for four years. Prior to this, I lived in London and Madrid and spent several years traveling the region.
I'm originally from Singapore and have traveled extensively throughout the region.
