Round the World travel (RTW travel)
Since 2011 I've been on a mission to circumnavigate the globe without flying. No, really.
From 2010 to 2014 I visited 25+ countries, living in several for months at a time. I've been through Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas. I don't have a home base.
Climbing abandoned skyscrapers, motorcycle adventures in Nepal and Thailand, running out of money in Iran, crossing the Pacific Ocean on a cargo ship, hitchhiking 1,141 kilometers through two foreign countries, flirting with 100+ women in Amsterdam, paragliding, bungee jumping, desert safaris…
I work from wherever there's wifi. I've made money doing web design, writing, proofreading, coaching and advertising.
I travel solo 99% of the time. There are pros and cons, but the former outweigh the latter for me. I rarely feel lonely, and have become quite good at making new friends and feeling at home in a foreign land. I'll teach you how to do the same.
I spent two months living in Budapest.
I only spent ten days there but it was perhaps the most memorable and humbling ten days of my life. I didn't bring enough cash with me, not realizing that my bank cards wouldn't work inside Iranian borders. As a result, I had to ask a lot of strangers for help, and was floored by all the kindness and generosity I experienced.
I spent two months living on Hong Kong Island on a tight budget.
I spent five months living here, mostly in Kathmandu. I also visited Pokhara and did a few days of trekking on the Annapurna circuit.
I spent almost a year living in Thailand, mostly in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, at one point completing a motorcycle trip between the two cities. I also visited Phuket, Kanchanaburi, Ko Sichang, Khao Yai.
